Spain’s prolific  manager Vicente del Bosque González, a former superb Spanish soccer player has brought the Spain national team much success since he took over from former manager Luis Aragonés. He brought Real Madrid to phenomenal success during his stint from 1999-2003 and would then go on to lead the Spain national team to their victories in the Euro Cup 2008 and subsequently,- to the prestigious and ultimate World Cup tournament success in 2010.
spain manager for the euro 2012 schedule
What does he feel about the tournament so far?
Vicente del Bosque was quoted as saying that he would not be making any conclusions and drawing up strategies based on the friendlies after Netherlands lost 2-1 in their match with Bulgaria and Germany lost to Switzerland, in a surprising 5-3 defeat. These aren’t important games, they’re just the friendlies, and are of no significance to the actual games, and the ones that matter would be during the actual Euro 2012 schedule tournaments- he was reportedly quoted as saying.
Del Bosque admittedly feels very confident about his 23 player squad but was quoted as humbly saying that the Spaniards were mentally strong but at the same time, not superior to anyone.
Midfielder Cesc Fabregas would join the squad despite a hamstring injury while record scoring striker David Villa who is absent from a broken tibia will miss the Euro 2012 Schedule games. That opened the doors for Fernando Torres who has been making a commendable effort to reclaim his former glory to join the squad. It was thought that Torres may possibly have not been given the opportunity if not for Villa’s absence from the squad.
Barcelona defender Carlos Puyol unfortunately will have to sit out owing to a knee injury.
Boss Vicente Del Bosque said that he felt both players Puyol and Fabregas were irreplaceable with their unique skills and was quoted as saying that the team would fundamentally miss both players and that this was a huge loss to the team.
Atletico Madrid right-back player Juanfran will play defense replacing Athletic Bilbao’s Andoni Iraola, who’s facing down an injury after a superb season with his team.
Spain has won every single match during the Euro 2012 qualifiers and are placed in Group C for the finals to meet Italy. The question everyone seems to have on their mind is can Del Bosque pull another hat trick and take the 2012 honors yet again?
